For a long time now automatic hand soap dispensers have been a common sight in the bathrooms of restaurants and other business establishments. The simple reason for this is that they help to prevent germs from spreading. Recently, though, the use of automatic soap dispensers in the home has gained popularity for the same reason. Germ spread easily through tactile contact. The fewer surfaces that are touched in an environment such as a bathroom or kitchen, the less chance germs have to move from one area to another.
Built-in dispensers
For a sophisticated look there are built-in automatic hand soap dispensers. These are similar to what is found in many high end restaurants. With a sleek chrome, nickel, or brass finish to match your other bathroom fixtures, these dispensers offer convenience and great style. They dispense a set amount of soap each time the sensor is engaged.
The automatic sensor and dispensing spout are battery operated. Top end models offer flashing LEDs to indicate low soap and battery levels. Soap refill containers are easy to install, which cuts down on mess.
These dispensers are slightly pricey, starting around the sixty or seventy dollar level and running up to several hundred, but can add a lot to the room if your budget allows.
Wall mounted units
If you are not ready for a "built-in" commitment, there are wall mounted units that are less expensive and very easy to install. Most affix to the wall or mirror with either dry wall screws or industrial strength double sided tape. Many of these models are easily adjustable for different soap amounts per wash.
Depending on the manufacturer, these dispensers may be available in a number of colors and finishes.
Counter units
The most inexpensive automatic soap dispenser models simply sit on the counter beside your sink. These are great for the home precisely because they are not permanent. Having guests over? Simply carry the small unit to another bathroom for everyone's use.
Like the other models, these are battery operated and most have some type of signal to let you know the batteries or soap are low. These dispensers usually run between twenty and fifty dollars.
While designed primarily for soap, all of these dispensers can also be used for lotions or any other liquid product you want to use with convenience.
