Foam Soap Dispensers

In both homes and businesses, foaming soap dispensers are becoming more common.  These dispensers create light, non-sticky soap foam that works quickly and well to remove dirt and germs.  Soap residue will be a thing of the past.

Not only does the soft foam feel luxurious in the hand, it also help to your bathroom counter tidy.  Most people have discovered the frustration of the liquid hand soap "misfire," when the soap shoots out over or under the hand that needs cleaning.  This usually occurs because the soap has accumulated in the spout of the dispenser.  With a foam soap dispenser, this is not a problem, as the soap is so light is virtually disappears.

But why's it all foamy?
So you've got a handful of foam soap-but how'd it get that way?  There are two steps in the process.  First, foaming soap differs from the usual liquid hand soap in that it is diluted with water.  Secondly, the dispenser is designed with a valve so that it allows air to be simultaneously pumped into the soap as it is being dispensed.

Opinions vary on the ratio of water to soap.  One person may say the best combination is two parts water to one part soap, and another may say all you need is a tablespoon or so of soap for several ounces of water.  This depends on what type of soap you are using.  Most commercial soaps, of course, are already set and ready to go, but if you want to mix up a batch, best to simply experiment a bit until you find the recipe that is right for your skin.

Because the water to soap ratio is large, foaming soap is more economical.  The concentrated liquid soap will last a lot longer while still having the same cleaning power.  One company, for example, advertises that a one liter dispenser will last through 1,400 hand washings.

For the kiddies
You know what most children hate doing?  Washing.  Any parent can tell you that it can become a chore just making sure the little ones have washed their hands before dinner.  They'll also tell you that any little bit of help is welcome.  Try making washing up a bit more fun with a kid themed foaming soap.  Several companies are producing dispensers in fun shapes and colors that are attractive to kids.
