Chest FAQ's

When you're looking into purchasing a fine chest for your home, all the available options may seem a bit daunting.  Here are some descriptions and frequently asked questions about chests to help you decide which chest is right for you.

Bombe chest

A bombe chest is a low wooden cabinet with a bulge or serpentine front. The outward bulge of the body and shaped top are unique to bombe chests.   Traditional bombe chests also typically have richly finished woods and ornate feet.  Most bombe chests have drawers on the front although some styles may have doors.  A bombe chest is most often used to store clothes, linens or personal items, but it can also be used as a beautiful accent piece in your living room or foyer.

Demilune chest

A demilune chest is a crescent or half-moon shaped cabinet.  You can use it in your dining room as a buffet, in the foyer to hold magazines and mail or in the living room as a media center.

Credenza chest

A credenza chest is a type of cabinet with doors surmounted by drawers. Most credenza chests are usually ornately decorated. The original "credenza" was an Italian sideboard used as a serving table. A credenza chest can be used in your dining room to store fine China, in your living room as an accent piece or in your bedroom to store linens or clothes.

Console chest

A console is a cabinet-style chest designed to stand against a wall. Most console chests will have either doors or drawers in front, or a combination of both. Console chests generally feature carved legs and an ornate decorative design. A console chest may be used for storage or as an accent piece in your foyer or living room.
