What is a daybed?

Simply put, a daybed is a versatile piece of furniture that converts from a sofa-like seat to a bed.  The optional trundle hides beneath the main daybed and can be conveniently pulled out when you need an extra bed. A daybed makes a great sofa/bed arrangement for your apartment, guest room, den, or any place you need to save some space.

What is a daybed frame?

A daybed frame consists of two side panels and one back panel. Daybed frames are commonly available in wood, metal, or a combination of the two. Daybed frames accommodate a standard twin size mattress, 39 in. x 75 in.

What is a link spring?

A link spring is a metal grid-like structure with springs substituting for a box spring. The daybed link spring attaches to the side panels of the daybed frame to create a sturdy, stable daybed. The twin mattress rests on the daybed link spring, allowing room below for the optional second mattress.

What is a trundle?

You'll find two types of daybed trundles: pop-up or drawer. Made of metal, a pop-up daybed trundle transforms your twin size daybed into a king size bed. A daybed trundle can be left lowered or elevated into pop-up position.

A drawer trundle also holds a twin size mattress but does not elevate or extend completely out from the daybed unless you completely remove the drawer. Drawer daybed trundles work nicely for a child's sleepover.

What size mattress do I need for my daybed?

All daybeds and their trundles use a standard twin size mattress, 39 in. x 75 in.

Which daybed mattress is best for me?

Most daybed mattresses run 8 inches thick, and come in soft, medium, or firm support.

What is the difference between soft, medium, and firm mattresses?

Soft - With a soft support daybed mattress, your body will mold into the mattress. The soft mattress has a sparser inner foam core and more fill around the foam core itself.

Medium - A medium daybed mattress allows your body to sink into the mattress some, but still offers generous support. Unlike the soft daybed mattress, a medium daybed mattress has a thicker foam core and less fill around the core itself.

Firm - A firm daybed mattress allows complete body support with little fill between the foam core and the mattress cover. A daybed mattress filled with dense foam core prevents your body from sinking too deeply into the mattress.

What is the difference between standard, deluxe, and ultimate daybed mattresses?

Standard - If your daybed won't be used on a daily basis, we recommend a standard daybed mattress. Although adequate, a standard daybed mattress might not withstand heavy, nightly use.

Deluxe - A deluxe daybed mattress is strongly recommended for most daybed users. This is a quality daybed mattress, able to withstand heavy, daily use. Whether you're sitting, lounging, or sleeping on your daybed, the deluxe daybed mattress offers excellent support.

Ultimate - For someone you wants the absolute best in comfort and durability, an ultimate daybed mattress can endure years of daily wear-and-tear.

Do daybeds come in full size?

A daybed is strictly limited to twin size. If you want a full size bed with the appearance of a daybed, a full size futon may be your answer. Many futon models resemble the general look of a daybed.

Do daybeds come in king size?

When the trundle of your daybed is in its elevated position, the daybed has the same dimensions of a king size bed.

What is a daybed cover?

Daybed covers offer an alternative to daybed bedding. The fabric lies directly on top of the mattress and drops all the way to the floor on the bed's front three sides. A covered daybed resembles a sofa more than a bed. Covers give the daybed a chic, tailored look.

What is a daybed comforter set?

Daybed bedding consists of a comforter, three shams, and in some cases, a bed skirt. Comforter sets make the daybed resemble a bed, resulting in a frilly, elegant look.

What is a bed skirt?

A bed skirt is the fabric that hangs just below the mattress, dangling just above the floor.

What is an accent pillow?

Accent pillows complement any daybed ensemble. These pillows can the same fabric as your cover or comforter set or a harmonizing solid color. Accent pillows are square, vary in size, and fit almost any décor.

What is a bolster pillow?

A bolster pillow is another coordinating accessory for your daybed. Like accent pillows, cylindrical bolsters, in a range of sizes, can merely complement or exactly match your ensemble's fabric.
