Organize your home office
If you're anything like me, you're always busy. My home office is a place for me to get away and concentrate on work without distractions. Many times though, it's difficult for me to get my motor going. I have found that a lot of this is due to having an unorganized mess in my home office.
For some unknown reason, I cannot become fully absorbed in my work until my home office is clean and organized. It also makes files, supplies, etc. easier to find. Here are a few ways to organize you home office that will hopefully give you peace of mind and make your work hours more efficient.
- Filing & Storage
If you don't have a filing cabinet, or some other type of storage device, get one. Filing cabinets allow you to cut down on the clutter by storing older files and documents away. This will keep unecessary items off of your desk and neatly organized as a resource if you need to access it again. - Sit in comfort
It's difficult to get things done if you're uncomfortable. The first office chair I had was brutal. My back and neck would hurt after sitting in it for an hour. I decided to purchase a new one a few months ago. It is a leather ergonomic computer desk chair and it feels great. My production has increased dramatically since the purchase. - Clean, clean, and clean
Make sure to clean up when you're finished. Store your files in the file cabinet, throw away any trash, place your books on the bookshelf, etc. This way you'll be ready to dive right into your work the next time you use your office.
