Nordic Track Treadmills

Nordic Track is probably a name associated more closely with cross-country skiing machines than treadmills. Nordic Track started out in the fitness industry 20 years ago with these machines. Their simple, smooth design got the company going. As the industry grew, Nordic Track looked for others ways to expand. In the late 1990’s they branched out into treadmills. The company is owned by Icon Health & Fitness who also owns ProForm and Weslo.

Nordic Track treadmill’s prices range from $1,000 for a home treadmill to $4,195 for a commercial treadmill. Nordic Track offers 11 different models. On all models the warranty has been improved to keep pace with the competition. All Nordic Track treadmills have a lifetime warranty on the motor, ten-year warranty on the frame and other parts including in-home service for one year. Nordic Track is a soundly built treadmill and they stand behind it.

Features

Nordic Track treadmills are also known for their generous features. One model sports a 10.2-inch interactive flat-screen television featuring built-in speakers. Performance features from Nordic Track include Remote Performance Control including iFit.com® and e-Source as well as motivational training zones which light up to keep you going. Also, some models have the Solaris™ Illumination Console that lights up only the areas of the console being used. Carb counters, and mile trackers are additional features and all come with impact absorption systems to cushion the shock as you walk or run. There’s even a feature on one Nordic Track model which allows you to enjoy aromatherapy as you exercise. It is compatible with a company made fan.

Pros/Cons

All of these features make Nordic Track treadmills big, heavy and hard to move. These aren’t treadmills you’ll be able to hide in the corner. However, the stability, durability, power and lots of extras offset the obvious space issues. One last thing that may be notable: Nordic Track’s reflex deck technology which absorbs the shock of impact when running does not actually replicate the city street or track you will ultimately run on if you’re into road races and may be a consideration if you’re trying to acclimate your body to the pounding of a road race.
