ProForm Treadmills

Long known as a price leader in treadmills, ProForm may be breaking out of that image somewhat with new treadmills and upgraded features.

ProForm offers 16 different models of treadmills ranging in price from $500- $1,300. In the past, price has been the most common motivator for purchasing a Pro Form. It has been widely held that longevity, dependability and warranty were areas of concern with Pro Form Treadmills. Recently however, Pro Form has released some models with a three-year warranty. Newer models seem to be an improvement on the above concerns, however time will tell on these issues.

Features

In general, ProForm has been more suited to the budget conscious, more casual or infrequent user. With recent models sporting such upgrades as compatibility with iFit.com (an online workout monitoring service) some of these old generalities may fall by the wayside. Other features available on Pro Form treadmills are displays showing speed, time distance and total calories burned. Incline adjustments are more easily made on newer Pro Form models and some come with crosswalk arms to help tone the upper body. Proform’s Target Pulse Analysis can also target your pulse and maintain your target heart rate with convenient pulse sensors. With the advent of additional features, ProForm may not be as competitively priced any longer.

Pros/Cons

Unfortunately, one thing which doesn’t appear to have changed, is Proform’s owner’s manual. This has been a sore spot with customers for some time. It appears that most of the complaints have been due to a lack of information or too much unneeded information. This may also be noteworthy in that ProForm is owned by Icon Health & Fitness who also owns Nordic Track and Weslo.
