Dart Games

Simple dart games for beginners

One of the greatest things about darting is the number of different dart games you can play. Below, you can learn the rules of popular and easy-to-learn dart games Ace, Count Up, High Score, and Nine Dart Century.

Ace

Ace is one of the dart games you can play to help improve the accuracy of your throw. Though meant to be played on an electric dartboard, with some rules adjustments Ace can be played on a basic dartboard.

For example, target numbers can be drawn randomly from a hat. When playing Ace, each player must hit their assigned random number during his or her turn in order to score points. Point values increase when the number is hit more than one time and misses count as zero points. The player with the highest score wins.

Count up

Simple and easy to learn, Count Up is one of the dart games ideal for beginners. To begin Count Up, a targeted number of points is set. Players then take turns throwing and keep a cumulative total of their points. The winning player is the first player whose score reaches the predetermined total.

High score

If you're looking for dart games that are suited for play among large groups of people or novice players, High Score is for you. One of the simplest dart games to play, High Score involves three rounds of play and the player with highest score at the end of the game wins.

Nine dart century

For Nine Dart Century, each player throws nine darts over the course of three turns. The object is to come as close to 100 points as you can without going over. Any dart thrown that hits outside the scoring area results in that player's score being dropped to zero. Bounce-outs are not penalized, but they carry no point value. Players who exceed 100 points are out of the game, known as being "busted."

One of the common misconceptions about dart games is that the only object is to hit the bull's-eye. But in reality, there are enough different dart games to choose from, each with their own unique rules and objectives, to keep you on your toes game after game.
