Pinball 175

Pinball

Pinball was invented in 1931, though at the time the game was called Ballyhoo. It was not until five years later that the term "pinball" was coined. It was coin-operated, but of course lacked the bells, whistles, and lights that are common in today's machines.

The game of pinball has evolved over the years. Early machines had only two flippers instead of the numerous flippers on modern machines. Early flippers were also smaller, about the size of the small extra flippers on newer machines. Large flippers were not introduced until the 1950s and did not become common until the 1970s.

A pinball machine can be a great addition to any game room. But keep in mind that it is quite an investment. Do some research before purchasing one so that you know what is available and what is a good deal. Start here with these helpful articles.
