Pool Tables

No one is exactly sure when the first pool table was invented, but it is generally believed to have been in France during the 15th century. Since then, the game and all its many incarnations have steadily gained popularity. Whether called pool, billiards, snooker, or something else, there is hardly a place on earth where some form of the game is not played.

Generally, pool tables come in these sizes: 7 feet, 8 feet, and 9 feet. Professional tables are bit more than 8 feet in length. The playing surface is covered in felt, generally either green or red, and underneath is a solid sheet of slate. Slate is difficult to damage, which makes it perfect for the game. Slate is also very heavy, which makes moving a pool table something of a challenge.

If you are outfitting a home game room, a pool table may be just what you need. Check out these articles for all the information you will need.
