A shuffleboard table is not just a game: it's an investment. As with any other purchase, regular cleaning and care are essential to keeping your shuffleboard table in prime condition. Having the right shuffleboard supplies for play and cleaning is the first step in proper shuffleboard table care. Shuffleboard table care

A monthly cleaning using shuffleboard cleaner will keep wax and silicone from building up on your shuffleboard table. After you've finished cleaning the shuffleboard table, buff it with a soft, clean cloth and wait fifteen minutes before playing.

Protect your shuffleboard table's surface with weekly applications of liquid shuffleboard wax. Let the wax dry for thirty minutes before playing.

Shuffleboard weights

When buying shuffleboard weights, or as they're also known, shuffleboard pucks, there are three things to watch for:

Standard shuffleboard weights will typically measure 2 5/16 or 2 1/8 inches in diameter. The heavier the shuffleboard weight, the better your control. However, the heavier the shuffleboard puck, the more impact a slick surface has on its movement. Pick a weight that's right for your style of play.

The bottom of a quality shuffleboard weight should be shaped like a very flat cone with a properly balanced nub. Cheaper weights are flat and rough on the bottom, which is harder on your shuffleboard table and offers less reliable movement during play.

Most shuffleboard weights are made from stainless steel or chrome. Stainless steel is the better choice.

Shuffleboard wax

Shuffleboard wax, also known as shuffleboard powder, is actually made from tiny silicone spheres. By reducing the friction between the shuffleboard weights and the table, shuffleboard wax dramatically alters the style of game you play. For that reason, shuffleboard waxes are usually rated by speed.

If you're new to shuffleboard, you should probably start by using a slower shuffleboard wax. This will increase your control over your shuffleboard weights, particularly if they're heavy. As you acquire a surer touch at the shuffleboard table, you can move to faster shuffleboard waxes that speed up movement and demand much greater accuracy and table judgment.

Shuffleboard wipes are recommended for thorough and consistent cleaning. Shuffleboard wipes prevent dust, wax, and silicone buildup on your table but won't damage the surface as they clean.
