Gutters channel rain water away from your home and prevent water damage to your home's exterior siding and foundation. Due to their extensive use, gutters often need to be cleaned and repaired. They should also be replaced frequently, as needed.
Metal and vinyl are two of the most common types of gutters. Metal gutters add a more authentic look to your home, but can be difficult to install and maintain. Vinyl gutters are easier to mount and are nearly maintenance free. They are also a more affordable option.
To install your gutters you will need an extension ladder, a ladder stabilizer, tape measure, chalk line, saw, electric screwdriver, and screws. Gutter sections, hangers, corners, connectors, end spouts, downspouts, and a drainpipe will also be needed and are the components that make up the gutter.
