Electrical Boxes

Electrical Boxes

Installing electrical boxes outdoors is not the safest place, so extra care should be taken. The boxes can be mounted nearly anywhere but should carefully planned so that additions can be made in the future. Outdoor electrical boxes should also be mounted in place where rainwater spillage won't directly hit it.

Less care can be taken when installing an electrical box inside but only as far as the weather is concerned. Indoor electrical boxes are usually manufactured from plastic while outdoor models are often made from aluminum as well as plastic. Indoor versions don't come with the gaskets and fitting that outdoor models do.

The final step in installing your electric box, wiring the wires, is more complicated than simple installation. Wiring should only be attempted by a trained electrician or if you have a great deal of previous experience.
