All About Shower Curtains

Like vinyl records, but not as cool

Shower curtains are unwieldy sheets of vinyl or plastic that until late came in colors no one would sanely put on display in their home.  Not properly cared for, they represent the most disgusting breeding ground for microbes and filth in common residences.  Oddly enough, they are kept where we bathe, and are often decorated with wholesome water scenes featuring beaches, penguins, and ducks.

If you have a shower and bathtub combo, chances are you need a curtain.  Get a solid color, vinyl or plastic shower curtain in for lining the interior of your tub.  Common sense would dictate that it be a light color to contrast encroaching mildew, facilitating early detection and elimination.

Match those hideous colors

For the outside, cloth curtains that match a theme in your bathroom work well.  If you have dated tiles of greens and pinks not seen since the 1950s, any shower curtain with subtle references to those colors will provide coherence to the bathroom and detract from the antiquated decor.  Wash the cloth as directed and replace the interior shower curtain when it becomes sufficiently disgusting.

Norman Bates notwithstanding, there are few reasons to choose the widely available, clear shower curtains.  Your bathroom should be characterized one of two ways - fun  and vivid, or serene and immaculate.  Whites can achieve the latter, while the former requires color.  Clear shower curtains are reminiscent of Grandma's plastic furniture wrap to be removed when the Pope visits.
