All About Whirlpools

Cocktail trivia

Long before it gained recognition as a perfect accompaniment to beer and a cold evening, the whirlpool concept garnered support from the medical industry in helping with hydro-therapeutic treatments.  In an effort to alleviate a young boy's rheumatoid arthritis, a pioneering immigrant family, Jacuzzi, devised a system of pumps that moved both air and water in equal proportions.  It remains uncertain exactly what hydro-therapeutic treatment involved prior to the Jacuzzi's invention.

The next step was ventured by a young Roy Jacuzzi, who successfully built a self-contained bubbling tub commonly referred to as a whirlpool bath.  After countless trade shows and county fairs, Roy established the Jacuzzi name as the zenith of home comfort and relaxation.

Evidenced by widespread approval, everybody likes to bathe in hot water mixed with bubbles.  Be it in expansive whirlpool spas or bath-size, whirlpool tubs, exercise fanatics and martini-slinging loafers alike reap the benefits of the greatest immigrant invention since Otto Frederick Rohwedder's often celebrated bread slicer.

Potentially useful information

If you are planning on staying indefinitely, go for the in-ground spa system.  The initial expense is much greater, as it requires significant plumbing and electrical work, not to mention contractors if you want something really special.  Ultimately, though, it will increase the value of your home and provide a relaxing luxury until you grow weary of it.

Fortunately for the transient population who insist on pampering themselves, plenty of portable, self-contained spas are available.  These are often placed in above-ground encasements to appear more integrated.  Best of all, most can be lifted by a few people interested in moving the party inside.
