Water Filtration

Water Filtration

The reverse osmosis water filtration system stops practically any contaminant from potentially entering your drinking water supply. In this type of water filtration, the water goes through a three-stage process. First, the water is forced through a pre-filter or strainer, which removes any sediment from the water. Next, the water flows through a membrane screen to filter out smaller contaminants that might be present. The last stage is passing the water through a carbon filter.

A great aspect about reverse osmosis water filtration is that it is mechanical so it does not use any electric power to operate. The downside is that, on average, about two gallons of water is wasted for every gallon that is filtered. This excess water, however, is used in keeping the unit clean. The reverse osmosis water filtration system most likely will require you to have a professional plumber install it, unless you are handy and knowledgeable about plumbing.
