Make sure you have a potential home inspected before you make a purchase. This can not only knock off some of the money toawards the house, but alert you of problematic situation in the house. Many contracts will require that a home inspector inspects the house before the contract is valid. If any problems are detected, they wll be asked to fix them or bring down the price of the home to accomodate.
