Unlocking the door to digital
Nowadays, obtaining a digital camera doesn't have to mean investing a large sum of money, especially now that they are being made disposable. Recently, Ritz Camera centers a disposable digital camera priced at around $10. Now you can take quality digital photos without all the cost involved.
At first, the disposable digital cameras were only available in a few select cities such as Chicago, Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, D. C., but are becoming more and more widely available across the country.
Advantages of disposable
Disposable digital cameras are perfect for someone who has never used a digital camera before and who doesn't have the money to invest in one of the higher end brands. The Ritz Company also hopes that the advent of disposable digital cameras will increase the amount of digital photos that are actually printed. At the current time, only about 20 percent of digital photographs are printed by consumers, for various reasons such as the complexity of the task and the required equipment.
Features
Disposable digital cameras have about 12 MB of memory which allows them to take up to 25 photographs, much like regular disposable cameras. And like most cameras, they are powered by a pair of AA alkaline batteries. Disposable digital cameras feature a self timer and automatic flash.
The only real drawbacks of disposable digital cameras are that there is no LCD for viewing the images stored in the camera's memory. However, it does include a delete option. So like any other digital camera, if you take a bad photograph you can delete it. The only problem is you have to rely on your instinct. Also, you can only delete the most recent photograph taken.
Getting the photos
Once you have filled your disposable digital camera up with photos, you can take it to a Ritz or Wolf Lab to get the photographs printed. Despite having a memory card, there is no way to retrieve the images on the camera yourself. Disposable digital cameras currently cannot be connected to a PC to download the photos.
The cost of printing twenty-five 4 x 6 photographs and having them put onto CD is about the same cost of the camera itself, around $11.99. And you can usually count on waiting about an hour for this process to be completed, much like with regular disposable cameras. Disposable digital cameras are also all recycled and refurbished once they have been used.
