You might not think that audio and video cables are important, but the truth is, a good set of aftermarket cables can make all the difference in the world. After all, it's the cables that transfer the sound and video to your TV and speakers, so it makes sense that high-quality cables will provide clearer sound and picture.

Aftermarket cables - such as speaker wire, audio cables, RCA cables, or optical cables - are made with much higher quality standards than the stock cables that come with your equipment. These cables may feature a better gauge (thickness), gold-plated connectors (for better conduction), or more durable coatings. They generally last longer and are less prone to fraying or wear.

When you're ready to set up your home theater or speaker system, it's always a good idea to consider aftermarket cables, at least for some of the more important connections, such as the video-in and audio-in cables.
