All About Sectional Sofas

To give chaise or not…

If your living room is in need of a change, take a look at sectional sofas. Instead of piecing together two or three couches, a sectional sofa can achieve the same effect of togetherness with better use of space.

Whether upholstered with fine leather for that classy movie room or a plush fabric for the living room, sectional sofas are a great way to accent any decor. Choose a color and fabric that will attract the eyes in the room and watch how quickly people flock to it.

A new look at an old angle

Sectional sofas generally come in 90 degree, L and U-shaped units. This way, seating can continue around a wall without the awkward negative space that comes from piecing two units together.

Making ends meet

Sectional sofas typically come in two types:

Sectional sofas with chaise ends

Sectional  sofas with standard ends

Chaise ends are great for increased comfort. The long lounge ends just beg you to kick your feet up and take a seat.

Chaise ends may not be the best option if you regularly entertain a lot of people, as they certainly limit the amount of available seating on your sectional sofa.

Standard ends are simply an extension of the sofa that sits at an angle. This is the standard design for sectional sofas and it just screams togetherness.

Great for small rooms that is hard to fill with standard couches or to section off a larger space, standard end sectionals make for great family and party seating for movies, meetings or group conversations.

Both styles, however are perfect for anyone to stretch out and catch a nap or lounge in front of the television. Sectional sofas are as versatile as they are comfortable.

Splitting up

One good thing about sectional sofas is that most units come in multiple pieces. If a room won't allow the whole unit to be together without blocking access, you can, for instance, remove one of the ends and use it in another part of the room or in another room altogether.

This approach works especially well with a large chaise end, as the standalone end make a great place to relax all alone. Taking away a standard end, however, instantly makes available full-sized seating to be used elsewhere in the home.

Sectional sofas can add a unique and comforting warmth to a room, all while adding an incredible amount of seating. Whether you need to fill that bare wall or need extra seats for regular movie nights, a sectional sofa is always a good choice.
