Along with Plasma screens, LCDs offer quite a few advantages over traditional televisions. They are usually sharper, brighter, and less harmful to your eyes than that old console TV you grew up with. Lets run down a list of reasons why a flat panel LCD TV might be your best buy.

LCDs have almost seamless images over the entirety of the display.

Color saturation is also a result of the technology, with over 16.8 million different colors in the LCDs spectrum.

LCDs come in both widescreen and standard formats. I would suggest getting the widescreen version given that all new television will be produced in this format and most movies have been so since 1955.

Some drawbacks of LCDs include burned out pixels. Even though this problem has been addressed and has improved LCDs can sometimes have little black dots where the pixel used to be. For most people if the problem arises it is no big deal others it could drive crazy.

It should also be noted that most LCD TVs are compatible with the universe of inputs from computers to HDTV.
