Pioneer Plasma TV's

Pioneer has made significant advances in the audio and video world since the early days of the hi-fi stereo. They are now global players in the world of DVD, DVD recording, plasma display and electroluminescent display.

Pioneer plasma

Offering up a significant line of plasma products under the PureVision moniker, Pioneer brings to the table two main models of displays; the Elite and the PDP. The Elite displays are touted as the high end consumer screens with panels from 43-61” with advanced features and built-in speakers for home theatre use. The PDP, or Plasma Display Panel, is available in 43-50” screens and is featured as a commercial use display or for use as a computer monitor, though many consumers use it for a home theatre due to a lower cost and high quality picture. Currently there are 5 Elite models and 4 PDP models to choose from.

Model comparisons

Differences between the models vary in size, speaker systems, inputs, and general appearance, but overall are both quality plasma displays. The screens themselves are attractive gun metal silver with black and are sleek in design. The Elite models provide somewhat higher end features for consumers looking for the best possible home theatre experience, but at a slightly higher cost. Screen features that incorporate custom adjustments for different viewing areas, enhanced speakers and pro input options, all are part of the Elite displays, giving consumers a nice range of options in product and price.

Innovations

Currently Pioneer is promoting the development of their First Surface Color Filter; a patented layer of film that covers the screen and helps to eliminate reflected light, enhancing the picture quality. Other tech-bits include their Pure Drive signal path, a feature that manipulates the digital signal internally without analog to digital conversion issues.
