All About Roast Racks

Roasting pan racks are handy tools when it comes to the topic of roasting meats or poultry. Roasting racks serve an extremely important function: they keep your meat or poultry from reabsorbing all the excess fat that drips off the meat during the roasting process. Roast racks generally fit into the bottom of the roasting pan and cradle your meat or poultry a few inches above the surface.

Roast rack designs

Old roast racks did little more than provide a platform to rest your meat or poultry on. This made it particularly difficult to transfer the food from the pan to a plate. Many of today's roast racks are equipped with handles to make this process easier. However, many have also maintained their original, flat design. The racks are also typically designed with ramped sides that cradle your meat or poultry and eliminate the hazard of your bird sliding off the rack onto the floor as you are transferring it to a plate. Most are manufactured from stainless steel and are finished with a nonstick coating for easy cleaning. Roasting racks come in all shapes and sizes, depending of course on the size of the roasting pan. But no matter what the material, including ceramic, you can find a roast rack to match it.
