One of the most popular breakfast foods, omelettes have been around for ages. In general terms, omelettes are beaten eggs that are cooked in a pan with oil or butter, filled with various meats, cheeses, and vegetables, and then folded over like a sandwich. Below is an easy, step-by-step method on how to make an omelette. Although there are virtually limitless omelette recipes, this basic method will give you the tools you need to get started.
Omelette Materials
The first thing you will need, obviously, is a couple of eggs. Some people prefer to make two-egg omelettes, while others like to make their omelettes with three eggs. However, it is not suggested to use more than three eggs to make an omelette. You will need a frying pan (either nonstick or an actual omelette pan if available) vegetable oil, olive oil, or butter or margarine, and salt and pepper. The rest is really up to you. Most omelettes contain some kind of cheese, vegetables such as onions, peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, tomatoes, and various meats such as ham, sausage, poultry, and even seafood such as salmon, crab, and shrimp. You can be as creative as you want or as simple as you want. Some people just like plain old omelettes with salt and pepper.
