The bread machine was originally released to the public in Japan in 1986. It was designed to produce bread without the need for oven baking. As a kitchen appliance, bread machines soon caught on quickly in the UK and America. Unlike conventional ovens, bread machines create the dough from raw materials added and then finish the process by baking the dough in their enclosed mini ovens. One loaf at a time is produced, and the entire process takes a few hours to complete.
As an electric appliance, bread machines are small, portable, and fairly simple to use. Self-timed and fully enclosed, the bread machine does most of the work. Pre-measured mixes are also available for quick and easy bread making. Bread machines can also produce other food items such as dough for pizza, mocchi, or even jam, depending on the recipe.
