If it's time to get rid of that old fridge, you may not know where to go to look for a new one.  There are a lot of great refrigerators on the market, and you'll want to make sure that you make a high-quality investment.  Here's the rundown on some leading brands, most trusted by consumers for their dependable, well-made, and durable products.

Kenmore refrigerators are manufactured by Sears, which have been making appliances for over 75 years.  Kenmore offers a large selection of fridges in numerous sizes, including many features.  Choose from top or bottom freezer refrigerators, side-by-side refrigerators, freezerless refrigerators, or compact styles (mini fridge).

Kenmores are temperature controlled by sensor, and can include a filtered water and ice dispenser.  Look for stainless steel, white, beige, or black painted metal.

Whirlpool is one of the leading makers of refrigerators, and has been selling home appliances since 1911. Whirlpool offers top or bottom freezer refrigerators, and side-by-side refrigerators.

They recently acquired Maytag, another leading refrigerator brand.

All whirlpools are energy star certified, which means that they exceed the energy saving specifications set forth by federal law.

Along with temperature controls and ice dispensers, many whirlpool refrigerators include adjustable storage drawers that are individually climate controlled.

KitchenAid refrigerators are deluxe home appliances.  KitchenAid has been around since 1919, when they started making mixing bowels.  Along with traditional free-standing fridges, KitchenAid also makes built-in, under counter, and drawer refrigerators, similar to mini fridges.

Regular-size fridges feature humidity controlled drawers, as well as a temperature controlled meat pan drawer.  All KitchenAids are energy star certified.

GE refrigerators are one of the most recognized brands of fridges in the American industry.  GE, as a company, has complex roots dating back to 1876 with Thomas Edison.

Along with the offering the standard top, bottom and side-by-side models, some GE fridges come with an innovative feature called PreciseFill technology- a measuring device on the water dispenser on the outside of the fridge which can measure in cups or ounces.

Amana has been making fridges since 1934.  Part of the Maytag (Whirlpool) family of brands, Amana offers the standard top, bottom, and side door fridges, as well as a French door option, which includes side-by-side fridge doors and a bottom freezer pull drawer.

Some Amana fridges offer a beverage compartment, which runs four degrees cooler than the rest of the fridge to ensure cold milk and juice.  Look for water and ice dispensers as well.
