Years of Reputation
Before we give you the low down on the Henckels carving fork, here's a little bit about the company...
Henckels has been making knives since 1731. The company was started in Solingen, Germany, by Johann Peter Henckels and has been producing cutlery every since–275 years! One of the leading manufacturers of knives, they have a reputation for creating some of the most durable, long-lasting, and finely hand-crafted cutlery in the business.
The Four Star Series
Henckels introduced their Four Star series in 1976. Designed with the aide of professional chefs, the knives in this series are made from high carbon stainless steel and use Friodur, an ice- hardening process that creates blade strength and lasting edges.
In 1994 the Four Star series was ranked #1 by Cook's Illustrated, receiving an Award of Excellence.
An Exquisite Fork
The Henckels Four Star carving fork is 7 inches in length, and can be purchased alone or in a set containing an 8 inch carving knife. This dual-pronged fork with long tines is designed to grasp and lift large cuts of meat. The handle is made of ergonomic polypropylene, designed for perfect balance and comfort. The sturdy handle (stamped with the Henckels logo) is one aspect of the fork that makes is a great buy.
Why It's Great
Here are a few reasons why we think this carving fork is top notch:
The handle. Unlike some brands whose handles fall off or come loose, Henckels creates a permanent bond between the handle and the blade that is seamless.
Dishwasher safe. Although most Henckels products should be washed by hand (it's never smart to put a knife in the dishwasher), this one is probably ok to put in the dishwasher.
Sold separately or in a set. If you already have a Henckels carving knife, then you won't be forced into buying a new one just to get the fork. Likewise, if you have neither a carving knife nor fork, you get them together as a set.
Affordable. Although it isn't the cheapest carving fork out there, it is relatively inexpensive considering what you get. Suggested retail is $88, but most online retailers offer it for $70. Now that's a deal.
