Tongs with a purpose

Basic kitchen tongs are made for picking up a variety of foods, but for some tasks multi-purpose tongs just won't do. Specialty tong styles are made for a specific purpose like grabbing slippery pasta or grabbing snails right from their shell! Here are some popular specialty tong styles:

Pasta tongs. Capture runaway spaghetti with specially designed pasta tongs. With a classic pasta fork on one side and a wire arm on the other, you can drain and clasp pasta in one easy step. A long handle keeps hands away from steam and boiling water.

Ice tongs. Ice tongs are made with pointed prongs so you can get a secure grip on ice cubes to prevent them from slipping away. Many ice tongs have non-slip easy grip handles.

Barbecue tongs. Long handled tongs grasp foods securely and keep your hands away from the heat when cooking on the grill. Barbecue tongs give you greater support when lifting and turning foods. Ideal for burgers, fish, and cutlets that tend to fall apart when cooking.

Bamboo tongs. Small bamboo tongs come in handy for turning tofu or for oriental cooking.

Salad tongs. Salad tongs feature one spoon shaped side and one fork shaped side. Choose from stainless steel and wooden salad tongs. Wooden salad tongs with long curved handles are easy to use when tossing salad greens and look beautiful too.

Wooden tongs. Safely remove hot muffins or toast from the toaster with small wooden tongs. A magnet insert allows you to store the tongs right on your toaster so you'll always know where to find them!

Sugar cube tongs. The three legged sugar cube tong is spring loaded and opens with the push of a button. Release the button and tongs spring closed to hold the sugar cube.

Escargot tongs. Escargot or snail tongs are a must if you eat snails right out of their shell.

Saute or tweezer tongs. Tweezer tongs are a must have for sauteing vegetables or reaching into jars.

Scissor tongs. The scissor design makes these tongs a kitchen essential. Scissor tongs come in many styles. There is a spatula/server style, a spoon/fork style and scissor tongs with a rubberized handle for a cool comfortable grip.
