One Piece Convenience
An indoor bench is a great asset for your kitchen, nook, porch, entryway or any space that can use a little more seating and decoration.
Benches are common furniture, typically designated as a long backless seat that is used for dining and leisure. Though benches have been classically though of as wood-built, benches come in all types of materials, just as they have seen additions like back and arm rests.
Benches come in two classes:
Backless: Benches in this class are merely a seat; the most basic type of bench.
Complete: These benches are built more couch-like, with back rests to add greater comfort and a more formal look.
Indoor benches of either class can be both decorative and functional. Benches make great seating when a little extra is needed or as a replacement for couches and chairs for a unique look.
Bringing the Bench Indoors
Indoor benches come in a host of designs. Two-seat arrangements are the most common available, though more can be found.
Indoor benches are incredibly versatile in design and are able to be fitted for any decor. An ornate colonial bench, which features high back and arm rests, works great in a home's foyer as a place to remove your shoes, and can also be moved into the bedroom.
Add a few bench cushions to that stiff cedar bench and you've got spare seats for the big game. Try putting a wooden kitchen bench at your breakfast nook to add more space or a leather bench in the movie room to squeeze in a few extra audience members.
Also don't forget that garden benches don't have to stay outside. Putting one in the entryway of your home is a very inviting addition. These benches easily fit into any country or rustic decor.
Seating for Things Other Than You
With a little ingenuity, a simple wooden bench can be host to a multitude of options. What is traditionally used for seating can also be used as an elegant shelf for potted plants or as a make-shift step ladder to reach a high shelf or cupboard.
A particularly stunning look is to place a bench as the foot of the bed. Not only does this add class, it provides a place to lay out clothes, put on shoes or just as a place to sit.
Regardless of what you use an indoor bench for, you'll find it adds a great deal to the look of your home. The functionality mixed with the limitless design potential make the bench a formidable piece of furniture.
