Recliner Price Guide

Basically, the fabric style, the style of recliner and how well it is made will determine the price of a recliner.  But it's hard to tell how well a recliner is made just by looking at it!  You may like the fabric, but you don't know how well a recliner will hold up without doing a little investigating.  You should check out the following features before buying a recliner:

Hardwood base frame.  A hardwood frame makes the recliner more durable.

Springs.  Look at the number of springs in the seat and whether the seat is made with a crossbar for support.

Seat foam.  Quality foam in the seat and back of a recliner will add to the price.

Cushions.  Check to see that the seat and back cushions are well made and well attached.

Lumbar support.  The recliner should give you total body and lumbar support.

Fabric.  Leather and higher quality fabrics will cost more than synthetics.

Under $500

Mainly kids recliners and glider rockers are available in this price range.  Kids recliners feature low maintenance upholstery in a variety of fabric choices.  The glider rocker is a great addition to the nursery.  The rockers come with a cushioned seat and an optional ottoman.

$500 to $800

Expect classic styling and upholstered synthetic fabrics in this price range.  These recliners may have either push back recline or recline with a handle.  The frame construction may not be as durable as the higher price range recliners, so if you expect a lot of wear and tear, make sure to check the quality. 

$800 to $1,000

Most recliners sold are in this price range.  Well known recliner manufacturers like La-Z-Boy, and Lane offer top quality recliners in a range of styles in this price range.  You'll find recliners with more reclining positions, many push button reclining mechanisms, strong frame construction and total body and lumbar support in this price category.  The fabric choices are also more varied and durable.  Higher quality cotton fabrics in many design choices and leather fabrics are available. 

$1,000 and up  

Luxurious push button recliners with premium quality features are available for over $1,000.  Leather recliners, massage chairs and theatre loungers are popular choices. 

Top grade leather recliners are available in a variety of styles and will look great in any room in your home. 

Massage chairs are high tech and vary in how they work.  Some massage chairs have internal computers that scan your body for pressure points and massage accordingly! 

Theater loungers are designed with the home theater experience in mind, but they are versatile enough to be used in any room.
