What the heck is an atomic clock?

Atomic clocks, or radio clocks, are the most accurate of timepieces available.  Kept exactly in sync with the official United States Atomic clock (Established 1952) - that measures time by recording the precise decay of a radioactive isotope - the "home version" receives a radio signal and matches your time to the scientifically recognized "official" world time.

Is it radioactive?

No, like we mentioned, your atomic clock uses radio frequencies to synchronize its time with the U.S. radio-operated clock found in Fort Collins, Colorado, that's where the radioactive stuff comes in. A small antenna inside the your atomic clock picks up the signal sent from the high-tech apparatus out in Colorado. Your atomic clock is always precisely "on time," and even adjusts automatically for daylight savings when appropriate.

Caution:  may not work if you live under a mountain

When you buy your Atomic clock and turn it on, you may have a little wait for the clock to acquire the signal from Colorado.  There are some possible environmental effects on the signal to your atomic clock such as weather, geography or interference from your building itself. Usually, just an adjustment, or repositioning of the clock solves the problem.
