Curtains

Curtains or drapes or usually used for the basic purpose of blocking out or obscuring light from coming in through windows. Conversely curtains are also used to keep light from escaping from a room or building. They also serve the privacy purpose of blocking outsiders' views into your home, office, or living space.

Curtains are manufactured from a variety of different materials, shapes, colors, and sizes. If you look hard enough, you can probably find specialty stores devoted solely to the purpose of selling curtains. Otherwise, many department stores have entire sections dedicated to the many different types of curtains available.

Curtains are also commonly used in the performing arts, such as stage productions. A curtain allows the actors and stage crew to make final preparations for the show while the audience waits on the other side. The curtain typically signals both the opening and closing of the show.
