Keep it clear

Your water fountain will become an important and enjoyable part of your daily routine. Therefore, it's important to keep the fountain clean and functional.

Some fountains may be easy to clean, on a basic timetable, while others may need special startup supplies to keep them running smoothly, like bottled or distilled water to prevent calcium deposits. It is recommended you drain the fountain if you have cold winter months. 

Remember, a little preparation will go a long way toward keeping your water fountain running.

Keeping it clean

Before you even start the fountain for the first time, take a clean, wet sponge to all the components.  Keeping dust from shipping and the factory off the equipment will ensure a smooth running stream.

Often tap water in local areas has undesirable side effects on water fountains. Consult your owner's manual to find out what you need. Nothing stops a water fountain faster than mineral buildup in the parts.  Manufacturer instructions should make everything clear.

Your water fountain might get thirsty!  Since water evaporates, be sure to check and see that the fountain has plenty of water. Not enough water will overheat the pump. If the pump sounds like it is working too hard, find out what the problem is or you could lose your fountain!

Checkups

Water fountains often have small parts that keep the water flowing smoothly. Periodically check screens and small parts to keep the fountain clean and unclogged.  Drain your pump several times a year and wipe it down to keep it running like new.  Keep the water flowing for a long time, and you'll have all the positive benefits of water fountains in your life.
