That's entertainment!
There are an unlimited number of styles for home entertainment centers but they can be split into five general categories. These categories are entertainment armoires, corner entertainment centers, side by side units, television stands, and entertainment walls. Here's a brief description of each one.
Armoires
Entertainment or TV armoires are entertainment centers that often offer a more classical look than entertainment centers found in the other categories. These pieces of furniture offer closed storage spaces so that electronic components can be closed off from sight and work well, many times, in formal living rooms or other areas. By allowing a door, or set of doors, to be closed, these entertainment centers provide more of a formal look and can be excellent space savers as well.
Corner units
Various entertainment centers are also made to make use of corner space or other restricted areas. Corner units accommodate this type of space naturally. They are designed to be placed in a corner, usually at a right angle and typically take up more space vertically rather than horizontally. Many of these home entertainment centers feature various cupboards, drawers, and shelves to hold the electrical components.
Entertainment walls
Entertainment walls typically make up the largest category of home entertainment centers. They often include a number of multiple pieces that combine to form one large piece of furniture with a central area that is used to store the television. Many of these entertainment centers contain multiple shelves as well as spot lights that can be used to illuminate books, art, or other items that are used on the entertainment center. Entertainment walls also usually feature closed-off cabinets that have glass or wood doors.
Side by side units
Side by side units are typically around 60 inches wide. Usually the right side is used to hold the television while the other side is used for storage of electronic components or other media. There are usually doors along one side or the other as well as smaller doors along the top or bottom. Some units also include drawers.
Television stands
Television stands have seen the most growth in recent years due to the popularity of larger format TVs. These are made to accommodate TVs as large as 80 inches with shelving below to hold components. Television stands are crafted in a variety of styles as well and can be matched to nearly any decor.
