All About Side Tables

Tired of magazines and newspapers laying on the floor?  Wish you can somewhere to put a vase of flowers?  Side tables may be the solution to your problem!  Side tables are small tables designed to fit next to a wall, but they also can function as end tables in your living room, or next to your bed in the bedroom.

There are multiple styles of side tables, and you'll want to find something that matches your home decor.  Traditionally, wood has made for excellent furniture.  If you are looking to try something different, here are some suggestions:

Get glassy

Glass side tables use glass as a tabletop.  Glass tops look nice on tables that have beautiful or ornate legs or bases. An all-glass table adds a nice touch to any room.  Because of the clear nature of glass, this table will look good in any room, regardless of patterns and colors.

Blacken it

An alternative to a clear glass is a black glass side table.  A black gloss finish is an elegant look.  If your dining room table is made from black glass, a side table would make an excellent counterpart.

Mirror, mirror, on the...table

Mirrored side tables contain a mirror as a tabletop.  Like a glass tabletop, mirrored side tables have an elegant look.  These tables can be round or square in style.

Lights, camera, action!

Lighted side tables give your room that extra touch!  Many Japanese side tables that use rice paper contain lights.  A lighted table is a nice decorative piece that looks beautiful in the evening.

Like a fine wine

Antique side tables are the perfect complement to pieces of furniture such as chairs and sofas. Try a round antique table in your foyer or kitchen.  These side tables are both fun and classy.

Out to sea

Nautical side tables incorporate elements from the sea.  These can be as varied as a tabletop that resembles an anchor to table legs in the shape of glass dolphins.  If your home has tropical or nautical decor, this is the perfect table for you!

Bamboozled

Bamboo side tables are perfect for homes containing wicker or wood furniture.  A Bamboo side table works well both indoors and outdoors.  The sleek look of Bamboo makes for a unique side table.

A little plastic

Perspex, also known as plexiglass, is a transparent, tough thermoplastic.  A perspex side table would work well on a patio or in a child's room. Perspex is a nice alternative to glass that is lighter in weight, and often reveals less smudges and fingerprints.
